Five new projects for Larnaca within 2022.

Until September, the municipality of Larnaca will come out in offers for the grandiose project of Salina Park, the redevelopment of Patticheio Park, the creation of the Mediterranean Park, the construction of a multiplex in Tsiakkilero and the restoration of the House of the Police Director.

These new projects, together with a number of others planned for 2023, are included, according to the municipality of Larnaca, in the framework of its wider effort to improve, upgrade the quality of life and promote the sustainable and balanced development of all areas of the city. The funds from three EU structural funds amount to 20 million euros.

Salina Park

Green lung, in a place where the city is in great need, will be the impressive project for the new municipal park of Salina in the area of Drosia. The park will be built on the site of the former residences of the prefect and the Larnaca Police Director, with the design including an association of the site with the Larnaca Municipal Garden. A lake, a refreshment room, walkways and a children’s playroom will be created in the area and it will have two main entrance gates from Leonidas Kiouppi Street and Griva Digeni Avenue. In addition, the improvement and promotion of the site will be carried out by enriching the existing planting and by incorporating modern elements that are consistent with the site. The new municipal park will be created in one area, about 14,000 square meters.

Restoration of the House of the Police Director

In the area of Salina Park, there is also the former residence of the Larnaca Police Director, which will be restored and the House against addictions will be created, where all prevention and treatment programs will be housed. The study is expected to be completed in mid-2022. The restoration work of the two-story listed building will cost, almost one million euros.

Pattichio Park Redevelopment

The project for the redevelopment of Patticheio Park, which will be a pole of attraction for many citizens, will be a big project. The original design provides for the construction of an amphitheater, a children’s playroom and a refreshment room, which will give another image to the park. The greenery in the area will be significantly enhanced, while the improvement of the pedestrian areas will also take place. The project is in the final stages of maturation and a planning permit has already been issued. The redevelopment of the park is estimated to cost about 3 million euro.

Mediterranean Park

A new impetus will be given to the artists ‘ neighborhood, in the Turkish Cypriot District of Skala with the creation of the Mediterranean Park, which will be connected to Piale Pasha Street and will adjoin the new Municipal Parking Lot, on the site of the former Turkish Cypriot cinema. The study provides sanitation and decorativeness of Turkish Cypriot pieces, which have been leased to the municipality of Larnaca for the creation of a square space with paving, planting, lighting and placement of urban equipment. Artists will have the opportunity to create visual works in the field. The study also includes the paving of roads, AK Deniz, Seyhan, Dag Boz and Boz Kurt.

The project is expected to be completed by June 2023.

Multiplex in Chiakkillero

Important is the project planned in the refugee settlement of Tsiakkilerou, where a large part of it will be upgraded. In an area close to the Holy Church of Agios Eleftherios, there will be a multiplex with a theater and children’s playgrounds. Landscaping also includes places for sports, walking and social gatherings. The project will cost about one million euros.
