The mayor of Larnaca, Andreas Vyras, said that the gas installations will be transferred within the summer and the cleaning of the area will take place within September. It is noted that the timetable set for the transportation of the LPG installations was March 31, 2022, however there were delays caused mainly due to the pandemic.

The interest in real estate and investment has already increased sharply in the area, since in combination with the projects in the port and Marina of Larnaca, there are huge prospects for development. Already Israeli investors seem to be preparing for the first major tourist development in the area, in the area next to the University of Intercollege. A master plan for large-scale development is also being prepared by the Petrolina Group, which owns the largest area, which reaches 400,000 square meters.

It is reminded that the urban zones in the area have changed, it is now considered touristic and will have high building rates, due to the incentives given for the movement of the facilities of the oil companies.

In addition to the private developments, several public projects are planned in the area of the Larnaca – Dhekelia road, such as parks, bicycle paths, as well as the extension of the pedestrian street to the coastal front of Finikoudes. The goal of Larnaca municipality is to transfer the university schools of the city, and thoughts are already being made for the exploitation of the old refinery of the city.
